LECTURE FORMAT
The lecture is intended to ensure that you gain a proper understanding of the most difficult material we cover, and to illustrate many of the concepts using demonstrations (demonstrations are frequently cited by students as their favorite part of the course). However, lectures are not intended to introduce you to the material for the first time, nor are they intended to be completely comprehensive. There will be material covered on exams and homework which is not covered in lecture. Your first introduction to the material should come from the textbook. You should read the sections of the textbook listed in the syllabus before coming to lecture. Generally we will not go over long derivations, and we will not solve problems. Occasionally a complete derivation will be shown, and a problem will be solved, but the main purpose of lecture is to explain and demonstrate the concepts.
