GRADING

Final: 35%; Midterms: 20% each; Homework: 15%; Section Quizzes: 10%

The absolute-scale borderlines have been chosen so that you can earn the highest possible letter grade even if you don’t receive any extra credit. The relative-scale letter grade is computed by ranking the students according to their total scores. Scores below 400 points correspond to a letter grade of “E”. The remaining scores are assigned letter grades according to the following table:

Top 1% A+

Next 4% A

Next 5% A

Next 7% B+

Next 7% B

Next 7% B

Next 20% C+

Next 20% C

Next 20% D

Bottom 9% E

Grades will be posted online using the last 4 digits of your Hunter Affiliate number. They will be updated periodically. The online posting will “forecast” your final letter grade based on your performance until the time of the posting. The computer automatically compares your absolute scale letter grade and your relative-scale letter grade and assigns you the higher of the two.
