Turns out I (S.C.) was never officially given BLOSA training. Marten is coming out to give me training and get the run started.

sec-butyl bromide survived (barely) shipping from Hunter. Outer glass containment shattered, but inner vial intact.

i0 gain is set to 7, It to 8.

001119.001 20:18 -300,300 5 1 sec-butyl bromide; edge scan
Small edge jump (about 0.33), but
definite EXAFS!
001119.002 20:23 -300,300 5 1 Same--see if edge jump gets bigger or smaller
Edge jump 0.41...cool!
001119.003-046 20:27 -300,300 5 1 Same.
Edge jump 0.53!
Then 0.59.
0.65.
0.74, 0.80,0.86
Energy does appear to be drifting somewhat, but
that may just be because of the low resolution...
I take it back; it's an optical illusion
0.91,0.95,0.97,1.00,1.03
Lock does seem to be drifting; probably crystal
is heating up.
1.06,1.10,1.13,1.15,1.17,1.20,1.23,1.24...1.34,1.35,..1.38,
1.40,1.41,1.43,1.44,1.47,1.49,1.50,1.51,1.52,1.54,1.55,...
1.60,1.61
Calibrate peak of first deriv spectrum.
Redid lockon
001119.047 01:20 -2,2 0.1 1 Horizontal motor scan 500 eV above edge.
Looks like it's alittle misaligned; recalibrated
001119.048 01:22 -2,2 0.1 1 Horizontal motor scan
recalibrated slightly to choose what appears to be
middle of window.
001119.049 01:25 -2,2 0.1 1 Vertical motor scan
It just kept going up; chose far right as new calibration point
001119.050 01:27 -2,2 0.1 1 vertical motor scan
effects are slight; may just be reading increase in partial
pressure!
recalibrated anyway.
001119.051 01:28 -5,5 0.1 1 vertical motor scan
^*$^*&^*&%%^&$
was looking at 1/It, not It.
001119.052 01:31 -15,15 0.5 1 vertical motor scan
finally clearly found edge of window
Chose reasonable looking place and calibrted
001119.053 01:34 -10,10 0.5 1 horizontal motor scan
beam appears a little wide
narrowed horizontal exit slit
001119.054 01:37 -10,10 0.5 1 horizontal motor scan
Good.
Recalibrated.
Upped I0 gain to 8; measured offsets.
Retuned lockin.
Noticed there's still a little liquid in the cap;
good!
001119.055- 01:47 -300,-30,20,25k 5,1,0.05k 3,3,3 sec-butyl bromide EXAFS scans
Nasty glitch in I0 in middle of edge; seems to
effect mu.
Edge jump is about 1.7.
ran out of Argon!
Aborted scan; switched to N2
001119.056-057 02:02 -300,-50,20,25k 5,0.5,0.05k 3,3,3 sec-butyl bromide EXAFS scans
1st scan is not trustworthy because of change
of detector gas.
2nd scan is better, but still somehat strange I0.
Aborted so I could fool with lockin.
I think lockin is better now.
001119.058-068 02:59 -300,-50,20,25k 5,0.5,0.05k 2,2,3 sec-butyl bromide exafs scans
Scanned right through the injection, so some of
the scans are truncated. Not sure why that happened
to more than one scan, though.
Edge jump appears to be almost 2.4.
(n.b. I've been measuring "edge jumps" to top of
white line, which is of course an overestimate. It's
a lot easier to eyeball, though, and I've been pretty
consistent.)
Thought for a moment I had some odd discontinuity
in I0, but of course it's not odd at all: integration time
changes!
Transmission is really a bit too low, now...It current is
around 0.05 above edge; 0.46 below edge.
Feedback has naturally drifted a bit, but still acceptable,
I think.
