	PHYSICS BA PROGRAM PLAN OF STUDY COURSE ROTATION Total (Minimum) Credits Physics Courses for BA in Physics : 26 COURSE OF STUDY: 2.5 years of study of required physics courses. Additional elective courses are recommended for a well rounded knowledge of physics. Recomended minors: [12cr.] Computer Science, Chemistry, or Mathematics. Most other minors are acceptable. Students wishing to continue for a doctoral degree in Physics should complete the accelerated BA/MA program. LEVEL ONE OF PROGRAM: 1). PHYS111 Introductory Physics,Part I with Calculus (includes lab.)5.5 cr. Mechanics, Heat and Sound [Pre-requisite: MATH150 (Calculus I)] 2). PHYS121 Introductory Physics,Part II with Calculus (includes lab.)5.5 cr. Electricity, Magnetism, Optics, Atomic and Nuclear Physics LEVEL TWO OF PROGRAM: [These courses may be taken in any order. This part of the sequence takes three semesters.] LECTURE COURSES: [Pre-requisites PHYS111, PHYS121, and MATH250 (Calculus III).] 3). PHYS221 Electronics 4 cr. 4). PHYS330 Atomic & Nuclear Physics 4 cr. 5). PHYS334 Electricity and Magnetism 4 cr. 6). PHYS335 Intermediate Mechanics 4 cr. LABORATORY COURSES: (Pre-requisites PHYS111; PHYS121) 7).PHYS230 Classical Physics Lab 2 cr. 8).PHYS235 Modern Physics Lab 2 cr. 9).PHYS222 Electronics Lab 2 cr. ADDITIONAL MATHEMATICS AND CHEMISTRY REQUIREMENTS: One year of High School or College Chemistry Calculus I, II, and III as well as MATH254 Mathematics for scientists. ELECTIVE COURSES (Recommended): PHYS425 Quantum Theory, PHYS401 Theoretical Physics, PHYS342 Optics, PHYS336 Statistical and Thermal Physics, PHYS385 Numerical Methods I, PHYS445 Solid State, PHYS415 Electricity/Magnetism (Level II), PHYS424 Plasma Physics, NOTE: Most of these courses also have 600 level designations.
